Welcome to On A Whim Designs.  On A Whim Designs is a small handmade jewellery business based in rural SW of WA and run solely by myself.  I started the business in 2011, creating glass tile jewellery, and have been slowly developing my skills and expanding my business to include polymer, silicone and wooden jewellery.

Please click on headings below to find out more about my range.  Please Contact Me for further information, and head to the Wholesale Ordering page to order.

If you have any further queries about stocking any of my items in your store, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to working with you promoting local, handmade small business.

Glass tile jewellery

My range of glass tile jewellery includes pieces covering a large variety of themes, from modern, to vintage, retro, geometric, romantic and fun!  I choose papers and images which I mount behind glass with jewellery glaze, and then place in settings (silver plated, bronze or copper). All my glass cabochons are made by me – I personally print the pictures/chose papers, cut shapes, glue and assemble.  This means my pieces are different from many mass produced glass tile jewellery items, and they can also be customised.

Necklaces – All pendants are supplied with matching chain.  Single pendant necklaces are 25mm round or 25mm square cabochons.  Charm necklaces are 25mm round or 18mmx25mm oval cabochons.  Charm bracelets are made with 18mm cabochons and are embellished with charms and Czech crystal and/or Swarovski pearl beads and are finished with a lobster clasp for adjustable sizing.

Earrings – Earrings are made with 12mm cabochons.  Earrings can be lever back, long dangle or stud style.

Key Rings – Key rings are made with 25mm or 38mm cabochons and are finished with a faux suede tassel.

Silver settings are silver plated.  All jewellery settings are lead and nickel free.

Polymer jewellery

My polymer pieces are all hand crafted by me.  The handcrafted nature of these pieces means that no two pieces will ever be exactly the same.  When making repeats of items, there will always be some differences in clay colour, patterning, bead size and so on.  Again, as all pieces are hand mixed and rolled, I can generally make pieces in custom colours as required.

Silicone jewellery

The silicone necklaces and key rings/bag clips in my range are made from 100% food-grade silicone beads.  They are non-toxic and contain no BPA, phylate, PVC, cadminium, lead or latex. The silicone beads are certified to Australian safety standards AS/NZS IS08124 US & EU IS09001 and are 2000 FDA CE & CPSIA  compliant.

Silicone “Mumma” necklaces are designed to be worn by mums and used by babies when they are in the process of teething. Chewing on the soft silicone beads can help reduce the pain of sore gums. “Mumma” necklaces are intended for adults and older children to wear. Please do not place any type of jewellery on children under 3 years old. Do not leave children under 3 years unattended with any of our jewellery products. CHEWABLE JEWELLERY IS NOT A TOY.

Wooden earrings, necklaces and brooches

The wooden earrings in my range are assembled by me.  They consist of a wooden cabochon to which I have attached a surgical steel earring post back. The wooden cabochons are NOT cut and imaged by me, but are purchased ready made.

Necklaces and brooches are similarly made with wooden pieces with bail and chain or pin attached.

Nest Necklaces

Nest necklaces are made by wrapping gold or silver coloured wire around Swarovski pearls to create a ‘nest’.
